Asbestos is a proven carcinogenic agent. In October 2002 the CAWR 2002 replaced existing asbestos regulations. Under these new regulations it is a legal requirement for those in control of buildings to develop an asbestos register and management plan in accordance with the requirements of MDHS 100. ESP Environmental can assist clients to assess their risk and make informative management decisions.

ESP has qualified staff with extensive experience carrying out asbestos surveys, abatement and removal supervision. These services fulfil the requirements of commercial, industrial and government clients during operations, maintenance, renovation and demolition scenarios.

Services and Capabilities
Asbestos services consist of the following:

Asbestos surveys (Types 1,2 &3)

Compliance air monitoring

Consultations

Exposure assessments

Operation and maintenance procedures

An initial survey by experienced staff is a crucial first step in asbestos management. This is a cost-effective means of identifying the presence of major classes of suspect asbestos containing materials. Conclusions are provided regarding the need for further assessment and abatement.

A full comprehensive survey involves a significant higher level of assessment and requires samplings and analysis of each suspect ACM on the site. A full survey would typically include an estimation of material quantities making it possible to estimate the removal cost involved. Assessments are carried out to evaluate potential risk of exposure, establish priorities and to determine viable corrective actions. These corrective actions can be in the form of removal, encapsulation, enclosure, management in situ or any combination of the listed.

ESP has experienced professionals that can act as on-site representatives to observe work practices and provide air monitoring.
Complementary Services
ESP has a range of complementary services including, stack emissions monitoring, atmospheric dispersion modelling, environmental noise assessment, asbestos, legionella risk assessment and water/waste water management.
