The Noise at Work Regulations
place a requirement upon the employer to ensure their
staff are not exposed to excessive noise levels. Furthermore
external noise pollution is becoming and ever increasing
concern.
The European Directive has already changed and will come
into effect in the UK by 2006, which will have a greater
impact on noise and vibration issues. ESP has a wide range
of noise and vibration support services.
Our staff and associates have considerable experience
in noise measurements and predictions. ESP offers a low
cost but highly integrated service from measurement to

Hand
arm vibration (HAV) is an occupational hazard for many
types
of industry where manual workers use hand tools or pneumatic
equipment. HAV is the common cause for vibration white
finger and carpal tunnel syndrome, often described as
a tingling in the fingers.
A monitoring programme incorporated as part of a maintenance
regime can lessen or mitigate the risk. A HAV database
has been developed over several years for the Health and
Safety professionals which gives predictions and allows
the calculations of risk to vibration. The database allows
the automatic generation of graphical summary reports
by tool type, level or other selection parameters and
allows for the addition of new tools.
ESP employs expertise in this area that can offer a complete
turnkey programme or for individual elements of a hand
arm vibration management programme. .
Complementary
Services ESP has a range of complementary services
including, stack emissions monitoring, atmospheric dispersion
modelling, environmental noise assessment, asbestos, legionella
risk assessment and water/waste water management.
