Trainee Technician

Main purpose and scope of the job
Office duties including input of data onto computer, preparation of site equipment and on-site technician duties.

Position in organisation
Reports To: Adam Sizer – Managing Director

Flexible – Full time or part-time discussions available

Starting salary negotiable according to prior experience/qualifications.

Office work:

  • Answering Phone
  • Booking Small Jobs with Clients
  • Managing Diaries
  • Completing Paperwork
  • Filing
  • Marketing
  • General Office Duties
  • General Housekeeping & Internal/External Office Maintenance

Moving on to:

  • Logging Samples
  • Inputting Results
  • Compiling Reports
  • Equipment Calibration
  • Weighing Filters/Samples

Site Work:

  • Load/Unload Van
  • Carry Equipment
  • Shadow Lead
  • Note Taking
  • Risk Assessing

Moving on to:

  • Setting up Equipment
  • Site Sampling (with supervision and eventually sole site surveys)
  • Sample Registration
  • Project Management

Skills and Abilities

Clear and concise written and spoken communication skills

Able to follow instructions in office and on site environments and adhere to health and safety guidelines

Basic computer skills required


No experience necessary but ability to learn, research/revise and sit exams will be required


No prior knowledge required but an interest in health and safety and environmental risk assessments would be best suited to the role.
Personal attributes and


Willing to travel and occasionally work unsociable hours

Be a good team worker demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the organization and team members.

Driving licence or view to gain it during first year will be required to progress to full Environmental Technician.
